Hamfest Committee
We should have a total of 28 tables available. We will have at least three vendors. About 8 tables will be reserved for vendors. Cash only. Will need to provide water and ice, coffee? (NOTE: In a follow-up e-mail to Jerry, Zack, WØZC, notes there are drinking fountains in the HCC Fire Science Building. — Editor.) Friday afternoon setup; the guard will open up for us before 5 p.m. Saturday we will open up around 7:15 a.m. Not sure about VE’s.

19:01 hrs Call to order by President Tucker

Announcements: President Tucker announced that the sidewalk sale will be held this year on June 15th. The location will be Post 3115 VFW, 4801 W. Douglass in Wichita.

There was no reading of the minutes, treasurer’s report or repeater trustee report this month due to the secretary-treasurer attending to family business. No repeater problems were reported.

Report of Hamfest committee: Things continue to progress. The location will be the Fire Science building, 3211 E. 4th Ave in Hutchinson. Prices will be $10 per table and $5 a person entry fee. Zack has not yet had the opportunity to inspect the facility.

Old Business: President Tucker stated he has fielded several inquires about our hamfest this year. He also stated the proof of insurance costs have been determined for both hamfest and Field Day. The prices are $195 for hamfest and $100 for Field Day. Mark from Derby will attend the hamfest and has requested 5 tables.

New Business: During the June 11 meeting we will discuss what we are going to be doing on Field Day. The location will be Gottschalk Park which is right inside the entrance at the intersection of 20th Ave. and Poplar St. Gottschalk Park will be available from noon on Friday June 22 through noon Sunday June 24.

We had a very good turnout with some new faces and some faces we haven’t seen in a while, so we had everyone introduce themselves.
There was no official meeting last month so reading minutes was dispensed with.
Treasurer’s report was read, Phil/Nate motion – Passed

Hamfest committee
The HCC Fire Science Building, 3211 E. 4th St., is available for free, except for insurance which will cost $200. There will be a $10 vendor fee and a $5 entrance fee.
Motion to proceed with the hamfest at the fire science building moved, seconded by Charles/John – Passed

Field Day
The fairgrounds will allow us to use Gottschalk Park at the fair entrance for $100, no insurance requirements. They will allow access to electricity, bathrooms and shelter. They also assured us the sprinklers will be turned off. Motion to approve Jake/Phil – Passed
Grant
Dan brought the club up to date with his ham radio club at Little River School. He was able to use the $500 to purchase many thousands of dollars’ worth of radio and accessories. He has four students signed up.

We had 8 at 7PM, then we decided to give it up by 7:30PM.

We did discuss with Dan his school project, and other ham-related topics, but there was no official meeting.

Old Business
* Bob and Zack moved we form a hamfest committee for our August 10, 2024, hamfest. Motion carried. Bob and Zack are initial members of the committee.
* Christmas Party
The party will be at 6:30 p.m. December 12, at 44 Swarens, Rice Park. Members bring a pot-luck side dish or dessert. Carriage Crossing will provide meat and potatoes.

New business

* DX Engineering filters
New bandpass filters will not available. Refurbished filters are available for $400 each, Jerry ordered two, and we will be receiving a $638.70 refund. Should arrive October 12. Will announce a test of the filters.
* Christmas party
Last year we spent $322.50 for meat and potatoes. This year we will be ordering pulled pork, turkey, and a double helping of potatoes. Motion to spend $400 for food, Clint/Phil, passed. The party is December 14 in the Rice Park Shelter. There will no plate charge, just bring plenty of side items for pot luck.
* Because of the arrival of the bandpass filters, we purchased a DXCC-LB fan dipole antenna and 100 feet of RG8X from the Derby Radio Shack for $275.
* Armory
Topeka wants to charge us for future use of the facility. Some reimbursement for the cost of utilities? The local staff is not happy about this because they see our organization as a benefit to their mission. The Army accidentally doubled the $6 billion payment to Ukraine, accounting error?
* ARRL membership
The club promotes the membership to ARRL. ARRL no longer makes it easy for clubs to benefit when members renew or sign up via the club. ARRL, like the rest of us, is pinched financially.
* DMR repeater
No word.
* Scholarship
Mark will be canvasing the Reno County Schools. This is a $500 scholarship, but last year we had no takers.
New Business
* ACØRL will be doing a big cleanup of his shed and work area. Volunteers will be appreciated
* The Hutchinson Public Library will be hosting an Urban Legends event on the 26th. You must preregister to attend.
